Naturally curious. Endlessly creative.
I think I was about 12 years old when I took my first photo and the world has looked different ever since. How is the physical composition put together? Where’s the light and shade? What’s going on behind the face? I’m always trying to find the answers and tell a story in my pictures, a story that will resonate differently with everyone who sees it. Whether a portrait, a landscape, an interior or even a canapé, we all have our own, unique emotional responses; that’s what makes every job so fascinating and so enjoyable.
I came to professional photography via a love of painting and drawing; taking pictures became the natural, creative extension of my interest in light and structure. Over the years, I’ve also studied graphic design and commercial photography, so I know how to interpret a brief and really ‘sell’ a product or concept.
My studio base is a lovely, airy space in central Norwich, where I can accommodate product shoots and interiors sets, and where most of my portraiture happens. I’m also comfortable out and about, as my portfolio shows.
I’m very proud to say that most of the work I do is for clients who know me, or from their personal recommendations. This loyalty is incredibly rewarding, but it works both ways. I’m careful to make sure that when a client puts their trust in me, they can be confident in the quality of my work, that I will make every effort on their behalf, and that I will bring creativity to every single shot.

We were introduced to Matt via the fantastic work he was already doing for one of our clients. Then we also saw the fashion work in his portfolio and knew he was the perfect man for the job. His skill behind the camera has helped us deliver some of our strongest creative, delivering fantastic results for both us and the client. Matt is now our photographer of choice and we proudly recommend him to our other clients as well as to whoever is reading this testimonial.

Matt Keal is just really easy to work with and really, really good at his job. He’s a technically gifted photographer who challenges himself creatively for every shoot. His skills are completely transferrable across all genres - I’ve worked with him on fashion, lifestyle and interiors shoots - but arguably his greatest assets are his ability to make dark, wet days look warm and sunny and his professionalism combined with a relaxed sense of humour that brings out the best in the models and charms the clients.
